Abstract
Transcatheter arteriography with embolization of bronchial arteries and non-bronchial systemic collaterals are well-accepted and widely used for management of massive and recurrent hemoptysis. These may be eiher provide a definite therapeutic
effects of
diagnostic effect on preparation for surgery. We retrospectively reviewes 16 patients of bronchial arteriorgraphy with or without embolization with Gelfoam pudding for control of hemoptysis from march 1993 to April 1996.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1. The cause of hemoptysis were pulmonary tuberculosis(10 cases), aspergillosis(3 cases), bronchiectasis(2 cases) and others.
2. Active bleeding vessels responsible for hemoptysis were the bronchial arteries in 11 patients and/or nonbronchial systemic collaterals in 3 cases, and 2 patients shows normal bronchial arteriogram and nonbronchal systemic
arteriorgram(subclavian
arteriorgram).
3. We successfully embolized bronchial artery with gelfoam fragment in 9 of 11 patients whose active bleeding vessel from bronchial artery and we did not try embolization of nonbronchial systemic artery in 3 patients.
